Character Information

Name: Estinien Wyrmblood.
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV.
Canon Point: End of Heavensward.
Age: Thirty two.
History: Wiki link

Personality: Estinien Wyrmblood is a character that is very much what you see is what you get, with a few exceptions. He's a stoic figure, tall and imposing and not one that is seen laughing or enjoying frivolities. He's stern in what he does and anyone would think him more an old man than a young thirty-two year old elezen with their whole life ahead of them. You'll never catch Estinien being the life and soul of the party and he's absolutely fine with that. Other people's opinions mean very little to him so if they want to gossip then it's not his problem, it's theirs. In fact when it comes to societal norms in Ishgard such as gatherings and social hierarchy, Estinien is having none of it. He should be making appearances as the Azure Dragoon of Ishgard but he chooses to disregard these and ignore those rules set in place. He has no time for people and their lip service.

Estinien is one that believes respect should be earned and there are very few that can say they have done as much. He has no respect of his own for those he sees as weak or pitiful and can be scathing in saying as much too. The dragoon doesn't believe in lying or keeping his thoughts too much to himself, so if he doesn't like something or he doesn't like a person he's going to say it. Why be nice and placate someone when all it does is causes problems down the line? This can lead to some conversations where Estinien can be too blunt about something and his disregard for niceties often shows. He can be very critical of others too; Estinien is often found criticizing the Holy See and how they run things despite technically working for them and Ishgard. Anyone else would be concerned that talking poorly of those in charge would come back to haunt them. He's a stubborn sort and one that has very little patience for a multitude of things.

Vengeance has been a large driving factor for Estinien ever since he was caught up in a dragon attack and lost his family at a young age. His whole life he's been wholly intent on hunting down the great wyrm Nidhogg and destroying him. This can lead to Estinien being pretty single minded when the enemy is involved. Nothing will stop him from hunting down his prey in that regard, he singles in on what needs to be done and does everything he can to make sure it is sorted. This can make him come across as a bit of a lone wolf sort, something that slowly starts to change as he travels with the Warrior of Light, Alphinaud and Ysayle. As they start to find their way through the storyline, Estinien soon starts to thaw a little as he realizes that things can work much better with others by his side as opposed to being on his own. He has few friends but does treat the Warrior of Light and Aymeric with enough respect they can be considered as such. He also likes to tease Alphinaud, somewhat seeing in him the little brother that he lost those years ago. It's just a shame that his sense of humor is dryer than the desert and can come across as being a bit mean to some. Estinien also manages to overcome some of his deep seated resentment, able to hold conversations with Ysayle with only minimal snarking and also conversing with a dragon here and there in the hopes to finally take down his adversary. Estinien can recognize when something will benefit the end goal and is in the process of slowly learning to reign himself in and not just charge straight into the fray. He also understands that in this dogged pursuit of vengeance he is becoming the same as Nidhogg himself and he looks to his friends to know that he has those with him that would prevent it from happening.

When taken over by Nidhogg, Estinien is able to shine through at points and ask his friends to kill him whilst they have the small opportunity to do so, showing a self sacrificing side that proves that no matter what, taking Nidhogg down and preventing others from dying is always going to be a side of him.

Abilities: Estinien is a dragoon and as such has the ability to use all dragoon skills up to and including level 60 in game as of his canon point. Dragoons are known for their strength and agility, wielding pole arms and lances to great effect. Their signature move is the ability to jump great heights with ease, using inertia and gravity on their way back down to land devastating blows to the enemy. As Azure Dragoon in Ishgard, Estinien's prowess on the battlefield is renowned and despite his lack of care for social graces and the Holy See, he's good enough he gets to keep that position for the most part during Heavensward.

Jump: Jumps upwards, slams into the enemy with their lance pointed down before returning back to the point they jumped from.
Elusive jump: Jumps backwards fifteen yards.
Spineshatter dive: A stronger version of jump.
Power Surge: Increases the damage dealt by jump attacks for ten seconds.
Dragonfire Dive: A jump attack that deals fire damage to enemies near to the impact point.

Other lancer moves such as Vorpal thrust, impulse drive and true thrust are different varieties of lance work that are most effective from flanking or behind the enemy. Dragoons are able to be at the forefront of a fight, using melee attacks. They can take hits though not to the extent a warrior type can. They aren't the fastest either, more a moderate and strong based ability class than say a thief or assassin would be.

Strengths: Determined, strong, realistic, loyal, brave.
Weaknesses: Vengeance, stubborn, dismissive, single minded, stern.

God/Shinki: God.
Why?: It's a role that will challenge Estinien. He's not one for following social rules set down and something like this will test him in different ways that a shinki would not. Not only that but it also challenges Estinien to focus on himself in order to help others and to think things through before jumping into the fray. It will be a great way for the dragoon to learn that his actions will have serious implications for others.
Top 3 Choices: Quetzalcoatl (Aztec), Tyr (Norse), Aether (Greek).

God Type: Whilst Estinien may seem like a stubborn sort, he still understands his responsibilities to others within his role as dragoon. Sure, he may be running around like a lunatic yelling at dragons, but at the end of the day it is to try and keep others safe. Even when others offer to help him, if he feels they aren't up to it he'll say so. This would mostly roll over to his role as a God. People are asking for help and he has the ability to help them and so Estinien would definitely be one to look into that side of things.

That being said, Estinien won't be the kind to help everyone and anyone. He doesn't suffer what he perceives to be fools so easily. If he feels that a prayer or request is stupid or something that someone should be helping themselves with, then he's going to turn it down or help them in a way that's not expected on their side. Estinien isn't going to change much at all as a God; sometimes such things are just too fancy sounding for him.

Power: Dragon Mimicry.

As a nod to both in game events and godship, Estinien's proposed power would be Dragon mimicry. Basically it's a form of shapeshifting into a dragon form. Whilst a lot of dragon mimicry revolve around dragons such as Western, Asian, Fairy etc, the dragon form Estinien would take on would be an Eorzean one. He would be medium sized, roughly fourteen to sixteen feet tall and one that would walk on four legs not two. Link for size reference and dragon style.

In dragon form, Estinien would have access to flight and fire breath, not to mention a large spike in strength and damage.

As a caveat, this is something that Estinien would have to really work on in order for things to go right in this form. It's known Estinien dislikes dragons so if he isn't putting his mind into working with this form or is too busy not wanting to be a part of it, then when he changes he'll simply turn into a small whelp for an hour.

[ When Estinien had been commanded to stay in bed and rest until healed he had begrudgingly agreed to it. Said agreement hadn't lasted long however and as soon as Estinien was recovered enough he was up, dressed and finding his way to the gates of Ishgard. He wasn't going to be hanging around long now that the object of his vengeance had gone he had to find something else to focus on. Something new. It just so happened that coming around in a completely new place seemed to be something that was actually happening and not for the first time that day the dragoon wonders to himself how this had even happened. One moment he'd been on the border of Ishgard and then the next in a place that was not only different in how it looked but in how it felt too. Someone calling themselves an "emissary of Amaterasu" had shown up to begin explaining things and despite how calmly things were being spoken about, Estinien couldn't help the feeling of frustration bubbling up.

And now he's on the roof of the temple, arms folded as he glowers down at the emissary with a scowl that could curdle milk. He wasn't a God, he wasn't even an Azure Dragoon anymore. Whatever the emissary is saying is obviously wrong and Estinien can feel the urge to throw something at the guy rising all the more. Just one good throw and he could knock that guy out and enjoy the resulting silence. Yet as much as he wants to yell, to vent and accuse them of kidnapping, the elezen knows deep down that what is being said is the truth and he huffs audibly. Gods and Shinki, prayers and temples, it all sounds like something the Holy See would come out with. Now there was a bunch of morons and the thought of doing something that would align him with them more closely has Estinien gritting his teeth. It's almost like he'd be incompetent by association with that lot!

Common sense soon kicks in (though for the emissary it probably feels like a few years). Something strange is going on here, that can't be disputed, but Estinien wonders if this isn't a small blessing in disguise. Hadn't he just been heading out of Ishgard intent on finding himself? Perhaps this was a part of it. At the very least he could find out what the deal was before opting to go back home. With Nidhogg gone it wasn't as if a dragon attack was imminent in the northern lands.]

Cease your warbling, emissary. I'll come with you if only to shut you up. [ Estinien is the paragon of politeness as always and he jumps down from the roof with a casual and practiced ease. From what he's hearing they'll be going to another place to speak with others and find a "shinki". Estinien only hopes they make more sense than this one and it's with an indignant frown he follows the pace set by the emissary as they set off.] Why are you still talking? Enough prattling.
